Getting permission to work in the UK is a two step process. First you need your Certificate of Sponsorship which isn't an actual certificate but a reference number. This basically proves the the government that you have a job waiting for you and that you will be receiving a paycheck. Once you have this number you can actually apply for your work permit/visa.
I'm currently waiting for Certificate of Sponsorship but have been gathering the supporting documents and photo's for the visa to help expedite the process. Cannot wait to begin!
The most frustrating part of this process is that unlike in normal situations, it is not possible to "pop over" on a short term Visa to work (like we do when we have exchanges happening for a couple of week), no, silly rules prevent that happening in tandem, so we have to wait. Worst of all, Dan just missed summer (i.e. this last week!)
